You make the most surprising connections in the most unusual places, at the most unexpected times…

Turkish singer/composer Dilara Sakpinar and Austrian producer Aras Seyhan met each other, randomly, on a ferry. As time went by, they stayed in touch and decided to collaborate together and make music, which is how Alike Places came to be.

Although the duo live in different countries, they have made the best of the distance between them, and said,

“This turned out to be a different experience and, surprisingly, everything is going perfectly well! It might have been harder to work if we were close, who knows…”

Rainy Day is the first song released by Alike Places. Aras‘ Hip Hop-inspired, loungy, electro production blends perfectly with Dilara‘s jazzy, ethereal vocals. Together, their sound is somewhat reminiscent of Lamb, Little Dragon, Lykke Li, and has a bit of that RJD2 “Here’s What’s Left” feel. I look forward to hearing what they come out with next!
