The Bay Area’s Locksmith is back, & this time, with a movie like video for his track “Slight Disgust“. The track is off his latest album, “Labyrinth” (download here).
With the music produced by Matt Cody and video directed by Garett Franz & Pete Paduano, the package Lock delivers is solid & on point. Lyrically & visually, this song & video is a work of art.
The movie like direction of the video nabbed me, the first two minutes & the dialogue between Lock & the young boy represent a time where there’s seems to be no form of freedom of expression or viable free thought. With an electronic synth sample, gritty drums &, what I think is, a distorted electric guitar/bass sound, Locksmith proceeds to school his listeners about individualism, revolution & the fake imagery & schools of thought that are imposed on us by the evil souls on this earth.
To be able to connect the video to the song & realize that both were deep is satisfying & just goes to show that satisfaction of the mind can go as far as the flashy videos most famous rap artists dish out on an insanely regular basis.
